Prior to the adoption of 17.28.070 (Ord. 2175) on 05/19/2003, Section 17.28.070 read as follows.

    The following building materials, and none others, shall be allowed in the construction of the exterior walls of buildings and structures constructed and installed in a C-2 (general business district) in the city:
    A.    The exterior walls of a building or structure that faces the street or front lot line of the building lot (the "front wall") shall be constructed of one or more of the following building materials: (a) brick; (b) brick veneer; (c) natural stone; (d) marble; (e) granite; (f) glass; (g) stucco trim; (h) building materials authorized and approved by the BOCA National Building Code as adopted and in effect in the city, from time to time, which are approved by the city council, with the advice and recommendation of the city building inspector; and (i) such other building materials as shall be authorized by the city council, with the advice and recommendation of the city’ s building inspector.
    B.    All exterior walls other than the front wall of buildings or structures shall be constructed of one or more of the following building materials: (a) the building materials authorized for front walls and described in subsection A of this section; (b) nonvertical metal, not to exceed fifty (50) percent of the height of each wall, vinyl and/or wood siding; and (c) architectural cement blocks.
